About St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School

St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Chemannar (SXHSS), stands as a beacon of educational excellence and pride for the local communities in Udumbanchola and Chemannar, ranking among the best schools in Idukki District. Established in 1963 as a primary school, SXHSS progressed to a UP school in 1968, a high school in 1977, and achieved the status of a higher secondary school in 2000.

Under the guidance of the Idukki Diocese Educational Agency, SXHSS is led by Mar. John Nellikunnel, Idukki Bishop, and Rev. Dr. George Thakidiyel, the Educational Secretary. Dr. Lalu Thomas, the esteemed principal, heads a dedicated team of 21 teaching staff and 2 lab assistants in the Higher Secondary section. With a total of 1,314 students, including 379 in Higher Secondary, SXHSS takes pride in its remarkable 100% result in the Higher Secondary exams, securing 28 full A+ grades for the second consecutive year.
